Create a TDM item in no time
How to create a TDM item in no time
There are two good tools inside of TDM that will help you create your item in the fastest possible way:
- Web Catalog
- Data and Graphic Generator
Web Catalog
The Web catalog is a TDM app where you can find complete up to date digital catalogs of several world largest tool vendors like.
If you are purchasing tools from one of these vendors, you will find that tool here and with 2 clicks you can transfer them to TDM.
By clicking on the Transfer button, you will have 2D, 3D and all parameters in TDM right away and your tool item will be ready to use.
So, when you open TDM item mask, just enter item ID that you created, and your tool will pop up:
Sometimes you will need to add some measurement but if not, you are all set.
To find your tool in Web Catalog, there are some filters available where you can choose Vendor, tool class, diameter…etc.
If you do not purchase your tools from any of these vendors, you can still use this catalog to find a tool with similar or same dimensions where you can use 2D, 3D and update only a few parameters and Manufacturing information.
Data and Graphic Generator
The Data and Graphic Generator is also a TDM app that will save you time creating your own 2D and 3D.
This app is made with many templates for each tool class and group and all major diameters.
When you find the closest template, open it and if necessary, change dimensions that need to be changed. Each tool template will give you all parameters that if updated will change your 3D model like: Diameter, flute length, cutting length, shank diameter, overall length…etc.
Then you can click Generate and after that Data Transfer.
With that, you will have complete item with 2D, 3D and all parameters.
So, long story short, these are two great tools to help you create your item library.
Web catalog would be my first choice in case you are purchasing tools from vendors:

- Guhring
- Hahn+Kolb
- Hoffman
- Ingersoll
- Mitsubishi
- Sandvik Coromant
- Seco
- Walter
*And more in the future
Data and Graphic Generator would be my first choice if I do not have 3D and 2D model from the Manufacturer
