How to Save Favorites in Keyshot

When working in Keyshot, you might find that you are frequently using the same environments, materials, textures or colors in your Keyshot projects. Is there an easy way to save all these commonly used items into a collection? There is! By using the KeyShot Favorite Library, you can create custom folders to save all your most commonly used items.

In this KeyShot tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a favorites folder in the KeyShot Favorites Library access those favorite items to add to your parts and scenes in Keyshot.

(Software Prerequisites: Keyshot 6  – Keyshot 9.3)

Where to Find the KeyShot Library

The “Favorites” Library tab is located on the Library Window.

  1. Navigate to the Library Window.
  2. Select the “Favorites” tab to show the “Favorites” library.

Create a New Favorites Folder

On the “Favorites” Tab you will find the favorites library, this is where you will create a new favorites folder to store your favorite items in.

  1. Select the “Add Favorite” icon on the Favorites tab toolbar.
  2. Enter a name for your New favorite folder.
  3. Select “OK” to create your New favorites folder.

Add Items To Your New Favorites Folder

Once you create your new Favorites folder, you can now add some items (materials, environments, etc.) to the folder.

  1. Navigate to one of the other library tabs, such as the Materials tab.
  2. Once you find a material that you would like to add to your custom Favorites folder, right click on the material in the Preview window.
  3. On the popup dialog select “Add to favorites”.
  4. Select the Favorite folder to add the material to it.

Alternate Option For Creating A New Favorites Folder

You can also create a new favorites folder in the favorites library on the fly if you choose.

  1. Navigate to one of the other library tabs, such as the Materials tab.
  2. Once you find a material that you would like to add to your custom Favorites folder, right click on the material in the Preview window.
  3. On the popup dialog select “Add to favorites”.
  4. Select the “Add to new Favorite” option to create a new favorite folder in the Favorite Library.

  1. Enter a name for your new favorite folder, and Select “OK”.

Now, you can continue to add additional items to your new favorite folders in the Favorites library.

Conclusion

When you create a new Favorite folder, it will include all the library categories (Backplates, Colors, Environments, Materials, Models, Textures) in that new folder automatically.

As you add new items to these favorite folders, those items will automatically be placed in their respective folder categories.

Now that you know how to create your own custom Favorite folders in the Favorites Library, you should be well on your way to quickly organizing all your favorite items for your next project in Keyshot!
