Design Data Management Maturity Improves Profitability
Analyzing Best Practices for Design Data Management
Studies show that companies with a lack of good CAD management practices waste 25 percent of their time on managing design data. Tech-Clarity (research firm focused on software technology) took a deeper look into the world of CAD design and surveyed engineers in the industry.
The survey uncovered product complexities, poor productivity in small / medium / large businesses, and 25% of time spend on nonproductive data management tasks. They learned, however, that design data management was evolving – with a significant growth in the use of cloud-based file sharing tools. Although it appears that “the adoption of these tools may be making it easier for companies to share their designs [across teams], it was making it difficult to effectively control design data“.
